In early June 2018, SIP Lvse Jiangnan Public Environment Concerned Centre (hereinafter referred to as “PECC”) received a report from residents of Dongqiao Town, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou, saying that the Environmental Sanitation Management Station of Dongqiao Town directly discharged landfill leachate to the outside environment, causing serious environmental pollution. They hope to get help from PECC. The location of the reported the Environmental Sanitation Management Station of Dongqiao Town is shown in Figure 1.

On June 13th, 2018, the staff of PECC rushed to the site for investigation. Under the leadership of the residents, they found that there was a discharge outlet of landfill leachate on the east wall of the Environmental Sanitation Management Station of Dongqiao Town. The outlet was blocked by weeds. It is difficult to observe the specific condition of the outlet, but a large amount of landfill leachate has seeped around the outlet, and the landfill leachate exudes a disgusting stench. The pollution situation on site is shown in Figure 2-(1-4)

PECC further investigated and found that the landfill leachate will flow into the rive on the northeast side of the Environmental Sanitation Management Station of Dongqiao Town.

On the same day (June 13th, 2018), PECC submitted the “Research Report on Direct Discharge of Landfill Leachate of Environmental Sanitation Management Station of Dongqiao Town in Xiangcheng District” to Suzhou Environmental Protection Bureau.

On June 18th, 2018, PECC received a written reply from Xiangcheng District Environmental Protection Bureau. The specific reply is shown in Figure 4.
