In June 2018, SIP Lvse Jiangnan Public Environment Concerned Centre (hereinafter referred to as “PECC”) conducted a survey in Suzhou High-tech Zone and found that the temporary storage of hazardous wastes of Suzhou Terui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., located at No. 68 Huqing Road, in Huguan Industrial Park, High-tech Zone, Suzhou City, is in irregular condition and has a pungent odor.

The temporary storage of hazardous wastes of Suzhou Terui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. located in the north of the plant is less than 2 meters away from a river, the site of the temporary storage and the surface water safety distance does not reach 150 meters of the specification requirements. The safe distance between the site of the temporary storage and the surface water cannot reach the standard requirement of 150 meters. Further investigation found that there were no anti-seepage measures on the ground of the temporary storage of hazardous wastes, and no labels on the waste packaging barrels storing isopropyl ether waste liquid. The on-site situation is shown in Figure 2-(1~3).

On the same day (June 19th, 2018), PECC submitted the “Research Report on Temporary Storage of Hazardous Wastes of Suzhou Terui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in Suzhou High-tech Zone” to the Environmental Protection Bureau of Suzhou High-tech Zone.

On July 5th, 2018, PECC received a written reply from the Environmental Monitoring Brigade of Suzhou New District. The specific reply is shown in Figure 3.
