In early January 2017, SIP Lvse Jiangnan Public Environment Concerned Centre (hereinafter referred to as “PECC”) received a complaint from the residents of Beiqiao Town, Xiangcheng District, saying that a company had secretly discharged sewage into the river outside its factory, and hoped that PECC would help to promote the solutions to environmental pollution problems.

On February 24th, 2017, PECC wrote the “Research Report on Water Pollution in Beiqiao, Xiangcheng District” and submitted it to the Suzhou Environmental Protection Bureau.


On April 28th, 2017, the Environmental Protection Bureau of Xiangcheng District and the Weitang Town Government invited PECC to come to the site to investigate and communicate on related issues on environmental pollution.

On May 18th, 2017, PECC once again went to Weitang in Xiangcheng District to investigate the situation of water pollution. It was found that after the announcement of the rectification situation, the construction of the place had begun, and the river dredging and other work had been carried out, and the floating objects in the middle of the river had been salvaged and cleaned up.

Progress of this case: Weitang Town has invested more than 1.8 million yuan for environmental rectification, and the pollution source and river rectification work has been improved.
